Hammond Bought The Mill & Railroad & All Else In 1900; Thus Began The Redwood Div Of The Company. In 1931 Little River Redwood Of Crannell Merged Of Hammond. In 1937 The Holdings Of The Humboldt Redwood Company (Eureka'S Bayside Mill) Was Purchased By Hammond. A.B. Hammond Died In 1934, So His Son Leonard Took Over. Len Died In 1945. Samoa Was Named In 1892 When A Group Of Eureka Businessman Laid Out Loys And Advertised Its Desirable Climate. Also It Was Referred To As "West Eureka" In Later Days When Mill Development First Took Place. The School Has 80-100 Students & 3 Teachers Teaching 1-6 Grades.
