TEXT:
Attorney F.A. Cutler, representing NWP RR stated to the city council that his RR Co. wished to gade its 2nd Street and Broadway holdings and believed that if it did this at its own expense, it would be fair to ask the city to cover the new work as a matter of protection against the winter rains. He went on to say his co. did not wish to do this unless the council decided to go on record as naming Broadway and 4th st. as the route of the state highway. He noted that Div Highway Engr Somnet had located the site of the bridge over Eureka Slough beyond the end of 4th st. He further stated he had a petition signed by a majority of property owners along Broadway accounting for 3200' of the fill and grading and covering the most expensive part which they propose to fill and bring to grade at their own expense, if they are authorized to do so by this council. He further stated NWP is anxious to grade 2nd st. but would like the council to promise to surface it when grading is completed. The council decided to call an adjourned meeting for next Friday night.
