TEXT:
Constr. of Eureka's newest shipyard is well underway on the old McKay mill property between A and C streets, 2nd st, and the waterfront. It will build wooden purse seiner type fishing boats to replace the same type of boats pre-empted by the government from fishermen. The boats will be 78-92' long, diesel powered, and made of Doug Fir. In connection with this plant in Eureka, the company will build a mill at Fields Landing to cut extra long timber and lumber, especially used in boat constr. The mill at Fields Landing is nearing completion. The Eureka plant plans to turn out 8-12 boats/yr.
