"Timber Land Frauds- Decision in the C.E. Beach case to be rendered Monday." Mr. Van Duzer alleged that the U.S. Attorney had raised the dates of the counts in the indictments to bring the offense inside the statute of limitation, & that he had wilfully suborned the Grand Jury to commit perjury in finding the indictments and had himself committed the same offense. The defense offered certificate from the Register of the Humboldt land office to show that although Beach was indicted for subornation of perjury of one Donald McAllister in the securing of land, there had never been a filing made by that individual. The D.A. admitted the dates had been changed but claimed it was done by mistake. The court hold in effect, that the affidavits were not legally identified before the Grand Jury, but at the request of the D.A., cont. the case until next Monday, at which time a final decision on the motion will be given. The motion is to quash the indictment, it being agreed the decision in this case should apply to the 7 others.
