The forests in Hum. Co. are being cut too fast and will cause the current number of people employed in the industry to be reduced by 505 in the next 60 yrs (2007) according to George D. Farrare, assist. forest supervisor, Six Riv NF. He pointed out the standing timber today is 43% less than in 1909. the remedy is better forest practices putting stands of timber on a sustained yield basis.
