p.17 The Elk River & Bucksport Railroad was incorped in 1882 & was jointly owned by Noah Falk and Carson. The North Fork of Elk River was owned by Dol beer & Carson; the South Fork was owned by Noah Falk. He built the town of Falk. Carson logged the North Fork from the late 1880's to 1897, at which time he moved to Fieldbrook. Then he shifted back to Elk River in 1932 and built Camp Carson. 125 men were working there in 1949. The railroad was completed in 1884. Noah Falk & Judge C.G. Stafford bought 900 acres of redwood on the South Fork at that same time. The town of Falk was laid out & mill ops began in 1885. In 1920 the Falk mill finished sawing & the Falls sold out to J.R. Hanify of S.F. who run the mill until 1937. Hanify kept the company going by selling logs. George Wrigley began work in 1884 for the Falk interests. He erected the dam on the South Fork. He retired in 1905, bought a ranch on Elk River & raised apples. His brother James was construction foreman for the Elk River Railroad when it was built. Winfield Wrigley was the son of George & was sec/treas & general manager of the Hanify interests since 1922. He says the old dam at Falk is to be opened so steelhead & salmon reach upstream to spawn. The Jones Prairie Sch at Falk began in 1898.
