Full page of photos & text on Elk River Valley. Photos of: old abandoned mill at Falk; Jones Prairie School near Falk; the Zane home built in 1880; Stockhoff home; Eureka Waters building; covered bridge(which one ?); view up the valley from the bridge on Falk Road; Elk River School; Engine No.3 on the way to Camp Carson. Old timer Sherman Stockhoff remembered the flood of 1902 when the water came up to his door. The Zane family settled in the valley in 1871. Sim Zane built the family home in 1880. There were 3 stores in the center where most of the houses are grouped. This is not at Elk River corners where John Harvey's saloon was. The city bought the water works from H.L. Ricks in 1907 & used it until the Mad River was dammed. The Nellist Ranch was near the water works. It had a creamey run by a water wheel. 20' feet in diameter. It was taken down recently (1947-1948). On pg. 16 is a photo of the Dolbeer-Carson Elk River Logging Camp roundhouse.
