The Directors of the HBMWD began to plan the first steps leading to the construction of Ruth Dam. The dam will initially be built to hold about 4,200 AF and be 131 feet high & 620 feet long. The base will be designed for a full 112,000 AF reservoir should the dam be raised to 174 feet high x 755 feet long in the future. The pipeline from Essex to the pulp mills will be 66 feet in diameter and made of reinforced concrete. The cost of the project will be paid back over a 40 year period.
