I have been a Reference Librarian at Humboldt State since 1972, retiring July 1, 2014. My undergraduate degree is from Swarthmore College (Russian language and literature, 1965) and my master's degrees are from the University of California at Berkeley (Library Science, 1967, and Folklore, 1986). Prior to coming to Humboldt, I was a Children's Librarian at the Contra Costa County Library and a Reference Librarian at UC Berkeley, Doe Library.
From 1997-2014 I served as Special Collections Librarian, responsible for the Library's Humboldt County Collection and Archives. My interest in local history has included participation for a number of years in local water and planning issues and as a member of the Redwood Alliance for Culture and History (REACH), 2001-2006 (organization currently inactive). Most recently I served on the Board of the Trinidad Museum Society, 2007-2018.
