Arrangement of the Collection
During the review of the collection like materials were brought together and put in rough chronological order. The major categories are:
- Joan’s notes and some drafts as she developed the manuscript for the book
- Pacific Lumber and Headwaters Forest
- Clippings – most relate to Pacific Lumber and Headwaters Forest
- Other – most are environment related
- Newspapers containing environmental news especially related to Headwaters Forest and Pacific Lumber (whole newspaper sections retained in the collection because of related articles and other context); primarily the Times Standard, The Arcata Eye, and papers from the San Francisco Bay Area
- Scattered issues of publications that contain information relevant to research for the book: Express: The East Bay’s Free Weekly; Sierra; Coast Weekly; Forestree News; Steelhead Special; Harper’s; Action: Bay Area Action; The Recorder: The Bay Area’s Legal Newspaper; Public News: Houston’s Alternative Newsweekly; Rhythmic Review; Forest Voice; The Earthling; The New Settler Interview; Mattole Restoration Newsletter; Bay Area Coalition for Headwaters; MEC Newsletter; Econews; Wild California; Earth First!; The News; North Coast Journal

- 2 tee shirts with a design supporting Headwaters Forest, created by Joan Dunning
