Mercer Fraser was awarded the contract to build a new bridge over Redwood Creek at Orick. It will be 100 ft upstream of the present wooden bridge & will connect the two sections of the RW now under construction. The one is 1 mile length, south of Redwood creek; the other is 7 miles long, north of redwood all the way to the Humboldt County line. These are to be completed by December. The bridge will consist of one 220' foot steel truss span, 1 60' foot concrete span, and 11 32' feet concrete spans. Support piers will extend 17' feet below the water (bed ?) & rest on a foundation of pine piles while the 11 32' foot spans will be supported on concrete piles.
