Alexander von Humboldt Conference
The inaugural Alexander von Humboldt Conference was held at Humboldt State University in 2001. The second conference was held in Michoacan, Mexico in 2003, and was followed by the third conference in Veracruz, Mexico in 2005. In 2006, the conference traveled to Xi'an, China, honoring both Alexander von Humboldt, distringuished traveler to the Americas and the extraordinary Chinese explorer, Zhang He. The fifth conference, greatly expanded, was held in Germany in July 2009. In 2011 the Sixth Alexander von Humboldt & Ibn Batouta Conference was held in Casablanca, Morocco. Santiago, Chile was the site of the seventh conference in January 2014. Paris, France hosted the eighth conference in July 2016 and the ninth conference will be held in Merida, Yucutan, Mexico in November 2018.
