Orick Martins Ferry Orleans to Brown's Camp
TEXT:
Good article describing the Bold Hills Rd. out of Orick to Martins Ferry. Grades range up to 16-18% on dirt and gravel road. It continues to Orleans. From Orleans to Brown's Camp the road is wide but not oiled. The new road leading to Brown's Camp has removed numerous curves. From Redding, going west, the road has some grades of 10-12% and a new road is being constructed over Oregon Mtn. The detour begins 3 miles out of Weaverville and is 5.3 miles long. Then there is 9 miles of new road, followed by 3.5 miles of the old road. At Willow Creek the new highway to Weitchpec just opened and is in splendid condition. 23 miles long. The first 8.5 miles out of Willow Creek is not surfaced and is dusty.
