Arcata of the 1850s and 60's by Robert Titlow. The Gregg/Wood party camped at the corner of 9th and F where there was a fine spring. Titlow and partners bought 10 blocks in East Union lying south of 13th and east of E Street, boudned on the by 10th Street. This land had a fine stand of Redwood and Spruce. Terrain was almost flat. The railroad track ran down the gulch (Campbell Creek) between B and C, east of the mill, and onward across 7th to connect with the wharf railroad.
