" U.S. Deputy Marshall Hopkins arrived on the steamer yesterday, having in his possession certain documents. He served the summons on the parties who were indicted by the U.S. Grand Jury on the charge of subornation of perjury. The gentlemen accused of the crime gave bonds, which were approved by Superior Court Judge J.J. DeHaven, in the sum of $5,000 each, to answer to the charge. The telegraph informs us that Joseph Russ, David Evans, C.H. King, and J.D. Walker have already been arrested and given bonds. The others are C.E. Beach, H.A. Marks, M.P. Roberts, Fred W. Bell. The gentlemen mentioned last had their bonds filled out yesterday. C.E. Beach gave bonds in the sum of $5,000, with Fred W. Bell, James Simpson and Peter Belcher as sureties. M.P. Roberts gave bonds, with A.W. Randall and C.E. Beach as sureties. H.A. Marks gave bonds, with W.H. Johnston, R. Sweasey, and J.S. Brown, Stephen Hill and C.G. Stafford as sureties".
