TEXT:
When the Arcata & Mad river railroad was first extended beyond Arcata, it was to the Dolly Varden mill, located at old camp courts. Then the Warren Creek mill was built & the railroad extended to that point. And Korbel & company built their mill at the north fork of Mad River. As all this was taking place , the Dolly Varden slowed down until today, there is little left of the place. Falk & company moved their store from there to the Janes Creek mill and moved the shingle mill to Elk River, leaving the old Dolly Varden mill spot deserted.
