R.F.D. by Andy Genzoli. He mentions that the first use of the steam donkey was by the Millford Land & Lumber company by George D. Gray. In 1881 at Salmon Creek & thus began the revolution in logging. The inventors, Dol beer & Carson. It was designed to block out roads, haul waste material out of the way and in hauling logs to the road and coupling them together, ready for the ox team to haul away. It had enough power to break a 4&1/2 feet rope.
