Whole page on Bayside- Indianola-Walker's Point. Walker's Point was known as Dutch Flat in earlier days. It was named after George Walker, on early rancher. Indianola got its name from from the fact that there was on Indian rancheria (village ?, site ? Recall Walker Pt sites) there. Back in the 1850-1870 time a man named Marble had a blacksmith shop in Indianola. This area was also known as Dutch Flat. He applied for a post office & wanted it named Marbleville. Post office Inspector decided the name Indianola had precedence so they approved the name Indianola. Bayside got its start in the 1850's Originally it was a company town & several of the old Bayside Lumber Company's cabins stand across from the store and post office. Rocks from the Jacoby Ork quarry were hauled down to a wharf by railcars. These used to be a railroad station at Brainards Cut called Bayside. Bayside got its name from the Bayside Lumber Company.
