PG&E Shoreline Rip Rap at King Salmon. On May 7th Mercer Fraser will begin riprapping 3,000' feet of bay shoreline with rock from the Jacoby Creek Quarry. This rock weighs about 5,200 lbs/cy. In the 1890's some of it was used to construction the jettes. Cap rock will weigh 6 tons. Ten weeks ago PG&E bought 137 acres at Buhne Point. They noted that, since 1902, 1000' feet of erosion inland occurred, with 300' feet eroding in the last 20 years. The riprap will contain some 70,000 tons at a cost of $300,000 & will be built to an elevation= 16' feet above MSL.
