The landmark Carl Lindstrom house in Fairhaven was demolished by his grandson, Dick Lindstrom, to make room for a shop and headquarters. This house was built around 1910 & was one of the first 5 built in Fairhaven. The other 4 still remain and are the Iverson house, Johansen house, in North Fairhaven, and the Nickerson and Lubeck houses in South Fairhaven. The Bendixson ship was going strong in 1900. S.F. mayor James Rolph bought the Bendixson yard in 1916 and in mid 1916 the keel of the first steam ships were placed. During WWI many emergency type vessels were built. In those days ships drew about "16 - 18" feet of water.
