TEXT:
A new bridge over the Salmon River about 1&1/2 miles upstream of Somes Bar has just been completed. This bridge has been desired for a long time. It opens up a vast territory of the Klamath National Forest, and the construction was under the supervision of the USDA and Bureau of Public Roads. The bridge brings together the road along the Salmon River to Etna Mills, Fort Jones, and Yreka with the road from Somes Bar to a little beyond Oak Bottom. This bridge will open up Haypress Meadows, that contains 1000 acres of fertile soil that has never been touched by a plow. The bridge is 150 feet long with a steel deck, wooden approach.
