Description of the lower Eel erosion spots that point out some 3000 ac. have been lost since the 1928 survey of the past 40 years of the 33,280 ac. delta. The 1928 survey was done to bring up to compared to the 1890 survey it was found the river had meandered more than a mile from its previous bed at certain points. At Sandy Prairie from 1928 to 1945 the river had cut back 1050 feet. At Pleasant Point some 1500 ac. have been converted to river bed. At Singley Bend 640 ac. have been lost in the past 50 years. At Ellery Beard the river has cut 519' into the land since 1928. Since the 1890's the river has moved more than a mile here and over 640 ac. have been removed (eroded). A report was made by the Eel River Delta Assoc. at a public hearing conducted by the COE in August 1945.
