Louisiana Pacific/Hammond Lumber Company Collection
Comprised largely of maps, plans and drawings, the LP/Hammond Lumber Company Collection documents the history of a major lineage of lumber companies in Humboldt County, from Vance Redwood Company through Hammond Lumber Company, followed by Georgia Pacific and then Louisiana Pacific. The company town of Samoa is especially well documented, including architectural drawings. The collection was acquired initially in 1997 and there have been several additions to it since then. 125 maps and drawings from this collection were digitized as part of the Northwestern California Forest Communities project in 2006: that collection is available online on Calisphere. In 2014 the partial finding aid was substantially enhanced and the collection is now available by appointment.
