TEXT:
Peter Peters, Indian patriarch, 96 yrs old, well known in the Trinidad area as Trinidad Pete, passed on at a Eureka hospital yesterday morning following a brief illness. He leaves his widow Emma. He was born in Hum. Co., the son of Jupe Lagoon, a well known early day Mad River Indian who was a friend of the whites in the day of Indian troubles here and is buried in the soldier's plot in the Arcata Cemetery. With his wife he has resided for many years past on the Harvey Baker place near the ocean beach not far from Trinidad. The widow has announced that no money nor valuables will be buried with him as has been the Indian custom in the past, due to the fact that valuables buried with a nephew some years ago were exhumed by miscreants to secure buried treasure. With his passing, the last ale member of the old Trinidad Indian Tribe went out of this life. Only 3 women remain. Funeral services will be held Monday Oct 22, 1934 at 2 PM at the Presbyterian Church in Trinidad. Internment will be in the Trinidad Cemetery.
