The South bay Railroad company construction a new railroad 5 miles up Freshwater. intends to move their rolling stock from Salmon creek, from which the timber has been removed, to Freshwater. Grading work has temporarily halted up Freshwater due to problems getting redwood for a fair price from a few owners. The company also has explored extending a railroad south to the Van Duzen, tunneling through Table Buff with a terminal somewhere on the South Humboldt bay.
