The story of Cleveland near Fulmor's Pool by Andy Genzoli. The old barn like str. on the Silva F. Moranda ranch was a business structure of Cleveland. In about 1867 the steamer "Mary Cleveland" entered the Eel and went up to & turned into a small channel near today's Fulmar Pool. She tied up in a small harbor at about where Len Hicks house now stands on Fulmor Road. Several buildings were construction & they chose the name Cleveland from the steamer's name. The Humboldt Red potato became a hot item in the J.F. area- so farmers on the Eel Delta dup up their potatoes sat for weeks in the hold of ? and began to rot. The farmers lost their potatoes & the town sank into disrepute. It is speculated that some Eureka capital bought off the Captain of the boat. The owners of the building left & the town died. The old harbor filled in. The small channel is still deep leading to the old ancharge.
