Whole page on King Salmon Resort by Chet. Photos of: the dredge; eroding Buhne Point( view south); view south from top of Buhne Point; view north of cut through the point; E - Z Landing with Gerry & Helen Codding; the Bagley fishing lodge ( built 5-6 feet high off the ground). Of interest, the Eureka Ship Builders Inc (La Mone Call ) were aware of the erosion problem. So they made a cut through the remaining Buhne Point thinking they could form a beach that would absorb wave energy- so the waves wouldn't reach the base of the bluffs. They also erected a pile driven sea wall on the South side of the point. Dredging first started in Feb. 1948. The resort contains 30 acres but the company owns 400 acres along the bay between Fields landing & Eureka. Much of it is the old Buhne Ranch & is being held for future dev. Johnny Kinder bought channel frontage in January 1948. Next to kinder are Gerry & Helen Coddling ( well known on lower Eel, On a separate channel, Hugh Graham is completing a dev. He operated from the foot Murray street last season. He's been in the fishing boat game since 1922. Has operated at the Klamath River, Big lagoon & Humboldt Bay, for a number of years he managed the county park at Big Lagoon. On the easy slope of Buhne Point is the King Salmon traver village operated by Harold Dordan. On the Board of Eureka Shipbuilders is La Mone Call, Jim Pemberton, George Cousins, C.M. Gould and Felix Bisio. Dr. Bert McCreery & Frank Broeden also.
