Whole page with photos on Rohnerville. Good photos of the airport, airport office, & runway. Overview photo of town from a hill. History. Henry Rohner came to Humboldt in 1848 (OT > this - I don't recall him with the Wood party). By 1852 he started a store at the settlement & it became known as Rohnerville. It was on the road to the mines & became a trade center. It was also a stage stopover place as well as a transfer point. Charles Carr was brought to Rohnerville in 1869 as a child. His ranch is now occupied by the airport. Campton Heights contains > 100 acres & is being subdivided by Mrs. Thelma B. Wood. Some 20 homes have been built to date. On drilling a new well for water, Mary Damioli, Rohnerville water fairy hit artesian water at 315 feet, one of the few in Humboldt county. It ran 500 gpm-so it was capped & now provides 7000 gpd to an overhead tank, as needed. The present runway at the airport is a grass strip 3,100 feet long. The new runway will be paved - 150' feet wide and 4,000 feet long. There are 26 planes located there permanently. It was not much 2 years ago.
