Here is an example of how to use the Three Ring Binder Index in conjunction with Box 3:

1. Choose a constituent in the binder index that has a number higher than "1" in the column called "Doc. #"
   

   Ex: Name	Doc. #
   Regula, Hon. Ralph S.	2251

2. Based on the accompanying Doc. #, we know that his letter, or a response to him, can be found in Box 3 in the fiche which contains the matching Doc. # 2251. The Doc. # you're looking for may fall within a range of numbers. For example, a fiche may be marked 1110-1118. This means a letter given the Doc. # 1115 would be found on this fiche.

Using the binder system allows you to find the actual correspondence of specific people.
