Abstract

This collection contains information on student housing and residence life at Cal Poly Humboldt, also known as Humboldt State University. It includes photographs, newspaper clippings, and guides to student life. A majority of the scrapbook collection includes students' opinions on multiple aspects of living on campus, like housing, clubs, relationships, and changes to the school over time. The photo albums include images of on and off campus housing that the school was promoting for students. Many of the photos found in the folders capture campus housing as it was being built and the changing landscape of the university.

Scope and Content

This collection was found in a custodial storage area and donated to Special Collection in 2022. The collection consists of four boxes measuring approximately 16 linear inches. It contains 3 scrapbooks, 3 photo albums, multiple loose leaf clipping and photographs of the campus, housing and residence life pamphlets, and maps of Arcata.

The scrapbooks contain newspaper clippings from student run organizations that deal with things related to student life, like housing issues, current events, student protests, and clubs. The photo books contain images of on and off campus housing advertised to students at the time. These can be found in Boxes 1, 2, and 4.

The looseleaf images depict the Humboldt campus while under construction. The housing pamphlets contain information about rules and regulations while living in dorms, student fees, basic information on how to live on your own in dorms, and anything else a student may need to be aware of regarding housing. These are all in folders in Box 3.
